What is Magnetism?
The main idea of magnetism:
Well everything can be attracted to something if the atoms are in the correct order. An object is magnetic when its atoms are lined up in the same direction. Not all things are magnetic, only things with things like iron, steel, nickel, and things along those lines. If
are not lined up the same way in an object, than they do not make it magnetic there for it cannot be attracted by something. A magnetic rock called a lodestone was an object that seemed magical to people of the early days. It can point north even when the weather is bad, that is good because they could use it when they are at sea. It is also called a magnetite.
Magnetism starts even before 600 B.C., but only 2oth century scientists understood it well enough to begin to use it. The Englishman William Gilbert was the first man to discover that the earth has a weak amount or magnetism. After that it was passed onto a German man named Carl Friedrich Gauss who kept studying about the earth’s magnetism and other things that William had figured out. Then more and more research had built up according what the person before them had done and that is why we understand magnetism today. People a long time ago could figure out what magnetism was because certain rocks and minerals would be attracted to each other. Iron does not at as a magnetic force which means it does not have magnetism. All minerals can respond as a, magnet even though you may not think so. But most minerals are so weak that they are never noticed.

Kinds of magnetism:
There are six different types of magnetism. The first one is Ferromagnetism which is when the magnetic moments in a magnet ling up in a specific way to produce a net of magnetization. Another one is ferrimagnetism which is another word for ferromagnetism just a little different. The next one is Antiferromagnetism is when an anti-parallel array is lined up. The next one is Paramagnetism which is a weak form of magnetism when a positive response to a magnetic field. The last one is Diamagnetism which is associated with negative magnetic stability.
are powered by electricity and can be turned off and on instantly. This is made by wrapping a wirearound an object and putting it to copper or steal. Electromagnets can be used for all sorts of things, guitars, trucks, and even toilets!
Magnesium on earth:
The earth has magnetism
, also known as magnetic poles. The earth’s magnetism is an imaginary line that is his magnetic equator. The magnetic equator is half way between the magnetic poles. A magnetic pole produces a magnetic field and it contains one or two poles, which usually come in pairs but is wieldy, spread apart than they can be counted a single. One more way that can make the earth magnetic is because it has a thin iron layer that we cannot see it because it is about 100,000 feet down.

They are microscopic objects in an object and make it magnetic.
