Conduction is the transfer of thermal energy from one substance to another .In conduction heat and energy always go from the hotter substance to the cooler substance. Two types of categories in conduction are thermal conductors and thermal insulators. Thermal conductors transfer

heat well . Thermal conductors get more dramatic temperatures faster than thermal insulators. Most metals are good conductors, while most fabrics are good insulators and poor conductors. An example of conduction is ice melting ,it does not melt because the heat warms it. It melts because it takes the heat .

Convection is the rising and falling of liquids or gasses. The substances rise because the heat source gives energy to the liquid or gas and causes it rise. When the substance gets too far away to get enough heat it slows down and falls back down. When it goes back down the heat warms it again and it rises back up again etc. When this happens a cycle of warming and cooling forms and conduction happens. When air rises and falls because of convection it can cause updrafts and storms. Conduction and convection act on each other. They act on each other because there needs to be heat for convection. Which conduction provides and there needs to be conduction for some types of convection.

Radiation is electromagnetic waves. Radiation waves travel at the speed of light to the point where it is absorbed. Radiation as in conduction only goes from the source to something cooler. 99% of Earths radiation comes from the sun. The type of radiation that comes from the sun is ultra-violet or UVA. UVA rays are invisible to the eye but are seen as light. When casted on certain materials the emit a visible florescent glow. UVA radiation is the kind that gives people sunburns.

Large quantities of radiation can be dangerous because radiation is atoms split in to about thirty parts. Split atoms are dangerous. An example would be atomic bombs , the explosion they make releases a great amount of energy and radiation. When dangerous amounts of radiation enter your body you can get radiation sickness.
The symptoms for radiation sickness are vomiting , loss of appetite and then a symptom free period. After that there is severe abdominal pain more vomiting and then a fatal shock like stage. If it has destroyed enough bone marrow there is death.
